Springettsbury Township Supports YAUFR Commission's Decision to Study the Hiring of Additional Firefighters

Springettsbury Township Board of Supervisors supports the York Area United Fire and Rescue (YAUFR) Commission’s November 30 resolution to form a subcommittee to study the need for additional firefighter staffing over the coming years.

YAUFR Fire Chief Dan Hoff’s presentation of hiring needs during the December 9, 2021 Springettsbury Township Board of Supervisors Regular meeting reflected the benefit to additional staffing and the Board appreciates the efforts of all YAUFR employees to recognize the rising trends in fire incidents and higher vehicle accidents in the area.

The Board of Supervisors supports YAUFR firefighters and we are committed to ensuring that staffing levels are appropriate. The Board is also committed to making certain that every aspect of the operation and management of the fire service is organized to provide the highest level of protection, safety, and efficiency to all employees and citizens.

The Township welcomes the YAUFR Commission’s resolution to study the hiring needs for this vital agency and will be happy to consider a revised 2022 budget based on the outcome of the study.
