The History of Springettsbury Township

Springettsbury Township’s Historic Preservation Committee was established in 1990 by the Board of Supervisors to provide insight and advice on potential historic sites and structures in the township.

 The Committee's responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing demolition permits to determine if the building to be demolished should be photographed and documented to provide a record of what was on the site;
  • Archiving information about the Township and its past residents and making the information available at the Township office for review and research;
  • Working to establish Historic Districts within the township; and
  • Interviewing longtime township residents to document the Township’s appearance in past years.
